This is my choice project. I chose to do a small vase. It's size is about two inches tall and an inch wide. I glazed it yellow but I thought it was going to be clear blue because the bucket was labeled wrong. I practiced making small things again because I usually make medium sized projects. The shape of it is proportional and it shows the balance between the top and the bottom of the vase. I like this vase because I was really able to make it small and was able to utilize all my skills.
This is my group coil it is about 3 inches tall and 3 inches wide. It has an intricate texture because it is made with different coils. The outside of coil is glazed with colbat and the inside of it glazed with rubitle. I learned how to work in a group and divide the work up equally. The lines help accentuate the contrast between the smooth on the bottom and the light and dark colors. This project means a lot to me because I was able to work with others to give back to someone.
This is my tall vase it is about 8 inches tall and about 5 inches wide. The mouth of the vase is about 3 inches wide. It has a smooth surface and it glazed with the mat turquoise so it isn't shiny but is still smooth. I learned about making tall projects. I made tall projects last year but they were narrow. I used the shape to emphasize the height of it and the form. I think this project is important to me because I was able to really push myself.
This is my first bowl. It is the first wheel project I have made since last year. I made is about 2 inches tall and 3.5 inches wide. To add texture I carved flowers into it. I made the flowers dark and the rest of the bowl light to emphasize the value of the colors. This project is the first time I've carved something into a project so I learned how to carve and how to make it look nice and even. The mood is happy because there's flowers on it and just reminds me of summer.
This is my second bowl. I made it on the wheel and it is about 2 inches tall and 3 inches across. I kept this bowl simple by glazing the outside and the inside white. I them used a red glaze to create emphasis of the rim. The rim creates a line around the bowl making its shape more prominent. With this project I relearned how to center because it has been awhile since I have thrown. I like the simplicity of the bowl because it makes the bowl have a chill vibe.
