This is an extra plate. I originally planned for it to be a part of my theme but somebody tried to take it as their own. I found it on the glaze cart the day after I put the glaze I used in the scraps. I don't like how this plate turned out and I think that is because I was rushing to glaze it. I wish that I would've been able to glaze this the same.

This is my theme project. It is two plates that are glazed with the same glaze. The glaze that I used it the glaze Hayden and I made. I really liked this glaze because it was turquoise with the speckles from the shadow green. I liked making plates because while they were easy to make they also had some difficult parts like not making the lip dip down from the center. I think these plates a simple and that was the over all feel that I was looking for.
This is my hand and wheel. I added a coil to the top of the base to add more height to the project. By doing this I knocked the top of the project off center. I think this was an interesting project because I was able to make a project bigger than originally anticipated. I glazed this with the same glaze that Hayden and I mixed which was Sydney blue, shadow green and white. It turned our more speckled than my plates did and I think that is because it sat and it was applied differently. I think this project is fun and I was able to use new techniques to create it.
This is my raku bowl. This is the first raku I've done that worked. I was able to do raku last year but it broke. I like it because you never know how the glaze will turn out. It is even more of a surprise than regular glaze. There is a spiderweb design in the center of it that makes look kinda creepy. This project got stuck to other projects so there is spots that are really thick. The balance between the light and the dark creates contrast in the bowl which helps it be more dimensional and better.
These are the two plates that I made for the two plates project. I wanted to keep them simple so only used one glaze. I put a strip of duct tape down the middle so I could break up the color and give it some dimension. I think that the shape of the plate is emphasized by the line because it makes it look even more round because the juxtaposition of the single and the round. These plates make me feel like I am going to the beach because they kind of look like a blue and white beach towel.
These are my plates that I used for a set of three. These are some of the first plates that I was able to make and I also made them out of porcelain. Two of them aren't foot because of the fire which is ok because they still came out good. I used a glaze with lots of different glazes mixed together and I sprayed it on with the air compressor. I think that the lines give the plates movement even though they aren't similar to the shape of the plate because they are angular and the plate is round. I am very proud of these plates.
This is my large bowl number 1. It is a large bowl with four different colors on it. It has a very round shape and it has thinner walls. The base of this bowl is very thick but the bowl itself is on the thinner side. One skill I learned was centering. For a while I was having trouble centering and with this bowl I was able to regain my center. The main art elements that I used was color to balance the bowl. This bowl reminds me of something you would have out on a hot summer day to store your ice-cream.
This is my group frankenpot. I made the middle and the base and my teammate Sarah made the top. We glazed it with shadow green, clear and dark cobalt. I attached it by slipping and scoring the bottoms and the tops of the pieces that touched. I then whomped it together with some help from Hayden.
